On a down day between projects, Ryan challenged me to a duel. Well, not quite a duel, per se, but he challenged me nonetheless. “Make a lightsaber,” he said. Surprisingly, though I am clearly a nerdy dude—and member of the Star Wars generation—I had never attempted the lightsaber effect.
Naturally, there are a zillion methods and tutorials around for creating the lightsaber effect. However, as is often the case, not many people talk about using Boris Red to create the effect. Ever wonder how a TV show is written? Well, just ten years ago that answer would have been easy: A TV show was written by a “writer.” Seems pretty obvious doesn’t it. Well, answering that question in today’s post-production world is not so easy. Oh, sure, some shows are still written by a writer sitting behind a keyboard, but nowadays, more and more TV shows are written in the edit bay, usually by the editor.
